Learning new things in your 60’s gets harder. The brain automatically sets itself to default.
It may seem completely ridiculous to some of you tech savvy younger people, but navigating from a very faithful but increasingly tired and frequently needs charging iPad to a lap top has proved more difficult than I expected. I couldn’t even scroll the screen up and down without googling how – who knew you need two fingers?
Today we are increasingly dependent upon technology, I rather wonder how my generation coped without it. I have to say that I am pleased my grandson’s new secondary school hasn’t dished out tablets to everyone, handwriting is a dying art but it is still given merit in his classes.
Our language is changing, I’ve only recently heard about Chat GPT, Co-Pilot and AI. Apparently this artificial intelligence is becoming so clever new legislation is coming to try and regulate it.
Protecting the future generations will be tough.
But I do understand how used the right way AI can be incredibly useful as long as it doesn’t stop people thinking for themselves or living in a virtual world.
It can provide precision with skilled application and can do mundane tasks incredibly quickly, but its doesn’t have the experience of life we as humans have.
Getting the balance right is the challenge we all face.
